What can I do to make travelling abroad easier?

Travelling with colitis often involves a little extra planning, but it can also bring a greater sense of confidence and control. Knowing that you have prepared for the unexpected can make it easier to focus on the trip itself.

"After my diagnosis, and while my disease was active, travelling meant thinking carefully about medication and toilet access. I contacted airlines and travel companies in advance and made things as clear as possible with airport security. When leaving the hotel, we planned routes with cafés and accessible toilets. The people we contacted were always kind and accommodating, which helped me feel more confident. Planning ahead reduced a lot of the stress and helped me feel more at ease."
